By definition, governance "is the act or process of governing or overseeing the control and direction of something." In relation to the crypto space, governance allows holders to use their tokens as voting power, relative to the amount which they hold. For example, holding 20,000 $BITS (2% total supply) grants you 2% voting power towards all BitSwap proposals.
Governance will be conducted via Snapshot.org, you may delegate a fresh wallet on behalf of your wallet holding $BITS by using delegate.xyz. This also allows you to contribute towards proposals whilst your tokens are being staked.
BitSwap community plays an integral role in the growth and expansion of the protocol, which is why we value their opinion the most. Governance is an integral part of any successful project, giving BitSwap holders' voting power over important decisions, which include but aren't limited to:
Marketing proposals: Have a say in where we allocate funds to boost community outreach; CEX, advisory, trending placement, ad spend, banner placement? The possibilities are endless.
Development proposals: Decide on which utility should come first on the roadmap, or rather suggest an entirely new utility that would benefit BitSwap and it's community the most.
Treasury proposals: Help us allocate our treasury funds for buybacks and burns, long-term investments, additional staking rewards and more.
The voting process will be conducted using Snapshot.xyz. We are committed to implementing various measures to ensure satisfaction with the voting mechanism. For a more comprehensive understanding of the voting process, please refer to the voting section for a deeper dive โคต๏ธ
